16 May 2024. The host "Bayern LB" and the BDL organised the general meeting

The leasing industry met for the 46th BDL General Assembly on 15/16 May 2024 in Munich. The agenda included the election of the Executive Board as well as presentations on economic prospects, supervisory developments and the mobility transition. President Kai Ostermann opened the 46th General Assembly, which was held at BayernLB, and was able to report a record number of registrations. In his report, Ostermann addressed the current framework conditions for the leasing industry.

In the Board elections, Kai Ostermann was confirmed as President for a further three years. The 46th General Meeting in Munich re-elected Thomas Kolvenbach, COMCO Leasing GmbH, and Olaf Meyer, Siemens Finance & Leasing GmbH, who succeeds Maximilian Meggle, MMV Leasing GmbH, as Vice Presidents. All other board members were confirmed. Guido Feldhaus, SüdLeasing, and Uwe Hildinger, Alphabet Fuhrparkmanagement GmbH, were newly elected to the board. BDL President Ostermann paid tribute to Max Meggle, who did not stand for re-election to the Board, and thanked him for the trusting cooperation, the open and competent collaboration and the work he has done for the BDL and the entire industry.

Dr Jürgen Michels, Chief Economist at BayernLB, gave an overview of current economic developments and an outlook on the interest rate and investment environment. He was more optimistic than other experts about the development of investment in equipment.

What challenges are mobility service providers currently facing? Uwe Hildinger, CEO of Alphabet Germany, outlined the general conditions and challenges such as digitalisation and sustainability in a presentation.

Thomas Stetter provided insights into the Bundesbank's new competence centre for finance leasing and factoring institutions. He reported on initial practical experiences and gave an overview of current developments in supervision.
